Our Services

Our Osteopathy and Massage Therapy approach

Our services include Osteopathy and Massage Therapy individually or in combination.

We take a very straight forward approach to your treatment. First, we ascertain where you’re at. Then we discover where you want to be. Then we start a tailored treatment programme designed to get you there.

Working with you and for you

As a team, we often use specialised Osteopathy or Massage Therapy terms amongst ourselves. That way we can be clear about the very specific details of a case (specific muscle groups, diagnoses or issues). We then make sure we translate our diagnosis and treatment plan so that you understand exactly what we’re doing and what that can mean for you in terms of outcome, timeframe and importance.

We work with you in the way that suits you. Some clients prefer as much home-based, self-help ‘homework’ as possible and are hugely dedicated about doing the exercises we prescribe. Others start off well but life gets in the way. And yet others, genuinely do not have time or the inclination. We will always tell you what you can do to help your situation but we don’t judge you if you don’t / can’t. We genuinely work with you, your way.

Overview of our services

As a Doctor of Osteopathy and highly experienced therapists; we understand the complexities of how your body responds to injury, stress and pain. We offer the following techniques and therapies to help you gain better body outcomes:

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is best thought of as a 'whole of body' therapy which involves mobilisation and manipulation of your spine and joints, connective tissue release, massage, lymphatic drainage in any combination. We're trained to screen for disorders of the cranial, nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular, visceral and lymphatic systems - yep, that's pretty much every part of you. Our job is to ensure your body works optimally in every way - including to improve your peak performance.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Whether you have a new injury or on-going pain, Neuromuscular Therapy is a highly specialised, effective technique that uses static pressure on specific ‘trigger’ points to relieve pain and help balance the central nervous system. It’s useful for treating and preventing soft tissue injuries and chronic pain and works well in combination with sports massage.

Sports Massage

Are you training for a big event? Are injuries, muscle fatigue or slow recovery getting in the way of your performance? Deep tissue massage is important not only for treatment of injuries but also for injury prevention and more efficient recovery time. Whether you’re a weekend warrior or an elite athlete, we’ll consider your training schedule and specific sporting requirements to create a treatment plan that will ensure you’re back out training and performing at your optimal best.

Myofascial Release

If you’re experiencing loss of flexibility or function after injury, or on-going soft-tissue pain then Myofascial Release will be an effective treatment for relieving your symptoms. Myofascial Release uses gentle pressure and stretching to release the covering, or ‘fascia’, of the muscles. It helps relieve pain and motion restriction and is ideal for muscles that feel tight and won’t release.

Kinesio Taping

Kinesio taping is a method of post-treatment taping that allows your body to prolong the benefits of your massage. It helps to increase fluid flow through an injured area, reduce pain and speed the healing process, and works well when used in combination with lymphatic drainage and massage.

Relaxation Massage

Today’s lifestyles are fast-paced and high-stress; it’s important to take timeout to relax, nurture and revitalise our bodies. Relaxation massage uses smoother, longer strokes and less pressure than other forms of massage. While the focus is to help you relax, massage offers many more benefits such as calming your nervous system, improving blood circulation and helping your body to detoxify.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy introduces another dimension to massage whereby essential oils are added to the massage lotion to provide additional health and relaxation benefits. Essential oils are highly concentrated plant oils with a range of special properties. These properties can be absorbed through the skin and through the scents' effects on the limbic system promote a healthier nervous system altogether.

I had been suffering with pain in my second pregnancy and even though I had sought treatment from an osteopath, I felt I needed a therapeutic touch to enable my nervous system to calm down & re-establish itself.
I booked into Vital Body with the wonderful Neuromuscular Therapist Mandy and felt at ease as soon as I walked in the door.
She took into account my comfort, both on and off of the massage table and being 35 weeks pregnant & the pain I had been suffering; this was hugely important to me.
I would highly recommend Mandy to anyone I know, whether pregnant or not as she really does have the magic touch and is so caring towards her clients, as well as very knowledgeable to what areas needed working on.
My pain was lifted after that session & with some ongoing exercises/stretches given to me, I am confident that I will continue my last few weeks of this pregnancy in a comfortable state.
Thank you Vital Body and especially Mandy.
Helen, North Shore
