Over the years we had been taught to stretch them with a deep lunge, which sadly did little for stretching the muscles and actually increased the load on our lower back. In accordance with ACC, this is no longer considered a safe stretch.
So, how do you safely stretch them? Easy!
Try and do this stretch daily if you are heavily office bound to help combat the plague of lower back pain. Why not do it while you are watching your favourite TV show in the evenings, or get your kids to do it with you for a bit of fun ;-)
